Unaccepted Book Conditions
This page is to discuss what conditions are unaccepted in regard to donation or private purchase for my inventory to sale. I have decided to create a page dedicated to this not only because people have asked me what I accept, but because I've had an event happen that has temporarily closed my store.
I am providing this information because I am a new business owner, and I want to build trust with my future customers of what they can expect from my shop.

First Glance
At first glance, this book appears to be in Acceptable/Fair condition, and looks like it just needs some minimal cleaning.
When looking through your books, don't let the outside fool you, especially if the storage location either isn't secure, or the books have been moved to storage due to a water leak.
Never go to sell a book based solely on the appearance of the cover. This book is from my father's collection that was moved from their hoarder home into storage off site, and then from off-site storage to our garage. It should have stayed there! This is the book that caused my shop to close!

Always Inspect Your Books
While it is my hope that the closure of my shop is only temporary, Due to how many books this one damaged, mold riddled book caused, and how many books I now have to clean, being a mostly solo operation that could take some time to do.
My parents had to move in with us in February 2024, a year after I opened my store. He wanted some of his books in the house to read, I went through a stack of books he wanted to take inside. I did not know he smuggled this one in from the garage.
My store was temporarily closed when they lived with us, to take care of them. I do not know when this book came in from the garage, and recently found it after believing that everything was ready for me to start back up again. Going through the room where I had my main inventory was when I found it. I had also seen the books that I had previously inspected for him move from room to room in my house, including finding them in my office on the shelves where MY books were kept, so I not only have to clean the books I intended to sell, but my own books as well.

Water Damage/Active Mold
The pages of this book are stiff from water damage, and since this is active mold, if you force them to fan, you spread the mold spores that can then infect other books. This is a health risk, and is why these books are not accepted in donation or purchased in collections for resale.
Other books that will not be considered for sale in the future are those that have been in homes with mice. While can be fairly easy to clean, provided they have not been used for nesting with visible chewing signs, they also take a long time to clean and sell, and if they are not cleaned properly, they also can be a health hazard,
